Reverse Engineering is the ability to reproduce an existing item by doing a detailed examination of its construction and composition.
Many of our clients have had moulds or equipment manufactured by other companies and come to us to repair or replace their existing tooling, so we need to be able to reproduce it exactly.
Coordinate Measuring
A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is a device that measures the shape of an object by using a probe to record reference points on the surface of the object. Using a Cartesian coordinate system the CMM records the position of the probe in 3D space relative to an initial reference position. This allows us to generate a perfect 3D model.
Shadowgraph
A Shadowgraph profile projector gives fast, precision measurement of 2D contours and has the ability to import DXF files directly onto the screen for comparison purposes. We can also export measured profiles and record images of the profile via a camera.
We use our shadowgraphs when it is impractical to CMM an object or when we are after specific profile information that can be projected onto the screen.
Manual Measurement
To supplement and confirm the information being returned by the CMM or Shadowgraph we manually measure key areas on an object to confirm key sizes or fitment areas.
We have a vast range of manual measuring equipment including micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, and verniers.
We can reverse engineer almost any object using CMM, Shadowgraph, or by manually measuring the item. Call our friendly Gold Coast based team to find out how we can assist you with your project.
